In Her Shoes Charity Fashion Show Returns April 24 to Redefine Beauty and Support Women’s Services as Demand Continues to Rise

Surrey, B.C., April 8, 2026 – As more women in the community face housing instability, food insecurity and distress, Sources Foundation brings back In Her Shoes on Friday, April 24 – a charity fashion show that creates space for real stories, shared experiences and community support. Taking place at Audi Langley, this year’s event embraces the theme of redefining beauty, celebrating authenticity, resilience and diverse backgrounds of women in our community. The goal is to raise $160,000 in support of Sources Women’s Place, a free drop-in centre for women and their children navigating crisis, poverty and gender-based violence.

Over the past year, Women’s Place recorded more than 4,000 visits and served over 3,600 meals, a significant increase from the year before. Many women accessing the space are facing unstable housing and isolation, with some relying on the centre for their primary hot meal of the day.

“In Her Shoes is a reflection of what community looks like when people come together with intention,” say event Co-Chairs Sara Forte and Jennine Cook. “This year, we are also inviting people to rethink what beauty looks like. It’s about creating a non-judgemental space for women to be seen, supported and celebrated, while raising the funds needed to sustain these essential services.”

Hosted by Virgin Radio’s Nira Arora, the show will feature clients, staff and volunteers on the runway in outfits curated by couture sponsor Turnabout Luxury Resale. Aligned with this year’s theme, the runway will highlight real women and real stories, reinforcing the message that real beauty has no boundaries. Award-winning auctioneer Howard Blank will lead the fundraising efforts. Guests will also enjoy bites from Lodge Steakhouse, Via Tavola, Sweet Avenue Bakery and other local partners.

“This will be my second In Her Shoes as President and CEO, and what continues to stay with me are the stories told directly by the women about their experiences and healing,” says David Macintyre, President and CEO, Sources Foundation. “This event continues to remind us that beauty is not defined by appearance alone, but by strength, courage and the journey each person carries. Our team at Women’s Place shows up every day with compassion and care, walking alongside women through some of the most difficult moments in their lives.”

More than 200 community members, partners and supporters are expected to attend.

Tickets are $195 and available at Trellis.org/InHerShoes2026.

Community members can support by purchasing tickets, participating in the silent auction or helping spread awareness. Each action contributes to a stronger network of care for women and families facing complex challenges.

Sources Foundation urges support to raise $300,000 for White Rock/South Surrey Coldest Night of the Year walk

WHITE ROCK AND SOUTH SURREY, B.C. – February 15, 2024 – Sources Foundation is urging everyone to slow down and look closer as they prepare for the Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY) walk to raise $300,000 for the White Rock/South Surrey community on Feb 24.

“This year, with the money we raise, we plan to support our food banks, homeless prevention & rent bank services, as well as expand our outreach activities,” says David Young, CEO of Sources Foundation. “The need is great. However, we remain undaunted in our determination to be there for the most vulnerable in our community.”

“For any community to thrive, it is important to know why someone is left behind and help them with resources they need to progress,” say CNOY Co-Chairs Felix Zhang and Brooke Fernandes. Last year, the CNOY event helped the Sources Foundation raise over $250,000 to provide individuals food, housing and counselling that wouldn’t otherwise have been available to them. The organization also purchased an outreach van to connect with people on the street and bring them to services and supports, helping them start the journey towards a better future.

On Feb 24, CNOY participants across 190 locations in Canada will walk 2 KM or 5 KM to bring those struggling closer to food, shelter and hope. For the White Rock/South Surrey community, the walk will start at Memorial Park, White Rock. The event will be emceed by celebrity fitness trainer Tommy Europe.

While the official start time is 4 PM, entertainment and registration will begin at 3 PM with performance by local music band Billy White and the Rockettes, Korki Klown sponsored by HomeLife Benchmark Realty, donuts by Little oOtie’s Mini Donuts and treats by Save-On-Foods (Southpoint and Semiahmoo stores). We will also have Prospera Credit Union handing out scarves, soup donated by Sheila’s Catering and coffee by Starbucks.

Teams and walkers can register online for free and set up their fundraising page. Top 50 walkers will receive 4 tickets each to CNOY’s post wrap-up event – Surrey Eagles’ season finale. The cut-off date for the contest is Feb 23, 9:00 AM. We will also have vibrant CNOY toques for anyone raising $150 or more or $75 (for youth 17 and under) at the check-in desk.

SOURCES Receives Unprecedented Support In Coldest Night of the Year Fundraiser

White Rock and Surrey, B.C. (March 31, 2022) – Today marks the last day of the Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY) national walk campaign, an initiative that gets people out walking for a cause that matters to them in their local community. Among these fundraising efforts, SOURCES attracted 454 people to walk for their Homeless Prevention and Rent Bank services, which directly benefits those living in White Rock and South Surrey.

“This year, we successfully reached our goal, raising $201,407 from Coldest Night of the Year! Among the 165 locations that participated in this event, we ranked #5 in Canada for the most amount of dollars raised for our community,” says Megan Knight, CNOY Co-chair and SOURCES Foundation Board Member. “As we conclude our ninth year of CNOY, it is with great pride that I announce we have raised over $960,000 to-date. That’s nearly $1 million!”

Running an event during uncertain times with the COVID-19 pandemic is no easy feat. For a second year in a row, SOURCES has hosted the walk virtually. The agency has been tasked with pulling together a concerted outreach effort to get as many supporters onboard as possible without the same level of face-to-face interaction as pre-pandemic times. The response this year from the community was overwhelming as the agency experienced a 21% increase in walker participation.
