White Rock, B.C. – The Surrey Fire Fighters Charitable Society and White Rock Fire Fighters Charity Association have joined forces to donate $50,000 to Foundry South Surrey-White Rock, supporting the development of a new centre that will provide young people and their families with access to health, wellness and social supports close to home.
Their $50,000 gift will help PAHCHF fulfill its $2 million commitment to the $6.45 million project, alongside support from other generous donors and community partners.
Mental health has been a longstanding focus of the firefighters’ philanthropy. Before supporting Foundry South Surrey-White Rock, the two organizations joined forces to support the addition of a Mental Health Care and Substance Abuse Zone within Peace Arch Hospital’s Emergency Department. They have also jointly supported improved diagnostic imaging equipment for the hospital’s Medical Imaging Department.
“Firefighters are often among the first to respond when someone is facing a crisis, so we understand how important it is to have support available when it’s needed,” said Dylan Van Rooyen, Senior Manager, Surrey Fire Fighters Charitable Society. “Foundry South Surrey-White Rock will be an important resource for young people and families in our community, and we’re proud to support its future.”
Located at 15451 Russell Avenue in White Rock, Foundry South Surrey-White Rock will serve youth ages 12 to 24 and their families. The centre will offer a welcoming, stigma-free environment where young people can access mental health and substance use services, physical and sexual health care, peer support and social services, all under one roof.
The project is currently in the pre-construction phase, with design and permitting underway. Construction is anticipated to begin toward the end of 2026, subject to the completion of these processes, with Foundry South Surrey-White Rock expected to open in late 2027.
Foundry South Surrey-White Rock is part of Foundry BC, a province-wide network of centres providing integrated health and wellness services to young people and their families. There are currently 20 Foundry centres operating across British Columbia, with an additional 15 centres in development.
The project is being brought to life through a partnership between Sources Community Resources Society (SOURCES), PAHCHF and provincial partners.
