Surrey, B.C., December 13, 2024 – Sources Community Resources Society (SOURCES) is pleased to announce the appointment of David MacIntyre as the new President and Chief Executive Officer, effective January 6, 2025. With over 23 years of experience in senior leadership and strategic development, MacIntyre will lead the social services agency into its next chapter of growth.
MacIntyre, previously served in CEO positions at Phoenix Society and MPA Society, joins SOURCES at a pivotal time as the organization continues to gain momentum in its reach and impact across British Columbia. His extensive insight in understanding the social services landscape with a specialty in mental health, substance use, housing and community living will be invaluable in continuing the agency’s mission to serve the vulnerable population. His areas of expertise include strategic partnerships, organizational design and service delivery in the not-for-profit sector.
“We are extremely pleased to welcome David MacIntyre into our SOURCES family as our new President & CEO,” says Adrianna Spyker, SOURCES Board Chair. “His well-rounded background and strong dedication to community service make him an ideal leader for our organization. I have no doubt that under David’s leadership, SOURCES will continue to grow, creating a lasting, positive impact on the lives of individuals and families.”
As President and CEO at SOURCES, MacIntyre will oversee the organization’s overall strategic direction, operations, and growth initiatives. His leadership will focus on ensuring SOURCES continued success through community engagement, innovation, organizational excellence, and truth and reconciliation work. He will also fulfill the role as President and CEO of Sources Foundation, leading the fund development efforts to support the operations of SOURCES.
“With SOURCES’ long history of providing essential services and support to individuals and families, I am honoured to join such a dedicated team and look forward to building on the agency’s strong foundation,” says MacIntyre. “By working together, we will strengthen and empower communities, meeting the varied needs of our clients to enhance their quality of life.”
MacIntyre’s work excellence and service to the community has earned him various awards including the Meritorious Service Medal from the Governor General of Canada, Deputy Minister Award for Leadership and Team Work, Top Innovator in Health Care Award.
MacIntyre succeeds David Young, who has led the organization with distinction for 17 years and will be retiring in January 2025. Young successfully merged the strengths and capacities of five separate legacy agencies to create a more comprehensive and holistic response to community needs under the SOURCES banner. The agency’s annual budget has since grown from $5 million to 33 million. For more details on Young’s retirement, visit https://www.sourcesbc.ca/news/2024/08/announcement-of-david-youngs-retirement/.
