SOURCES gala returns this fall as “Run for the Roses Redux”

Grab your hats and place your bets! The Sources Foundation’s annual fundraising gala is returning this fall in a hybrid format and tickets go on sale August 6.

“By popular demand, we are bringing back the theme our guests missed, with a twist! On November 6, we are giddying up for Run for the Roses Redux, emulating a colourful day at the derby—horse racing, fancy cocktails and stylish headwear. I hope you will join us in celebrating the wonderful work that SOURCES does to support our communities,” said Gala Co-Chairs Darrell Jones (President, Save-On-Foods) and Grace Chiu (Director, Sources Foundation).

The gala is the Sources Foundation’s signature event and attracts more than 250 people for an evening of fine dining, entertainment, live and silent auctions and more. Last year’s virtual Run for the Roses themed gala raised close to $180,000 for SOURCES’ “Comfort and Care During COVID-19” response fund and the 2019 in-person Enchanted Gala raised a record $390,000. When the question was put out to SOURCES’ gala sponsors on what this year’s goal should be, the number they came back with was $500,000.

At $175 per ticket, guests will have the choice of attending “An Evening At The Races” (in-person at Hazelmere Golf and Tennis Club; tables of eight and ten available) or participating virtually through “A Catered Affair” (for groups of eight or ten people; catered by Sheila’s Catering Co.) or “Giddy Up And Go” (for individuals or small groups; receive a gift card to a selection of local restaurants). Guests can be assured that the event will follow the latest health and safety guidelines set by public health authorities.

“One of the positive outcomes of the past year is that we have become more comfortable with exercising our creativity and trying new things. We pulled off our first-ever virtual gala last fall and hosted a virtual Coldest Night of the Year walk which was our most successful yet. We are offering more choices to our supporters on how they experience our fundraising events, as each of our comfort levels on returning to normal gatherings are different. This way, community members can participate at Hazelmere, at home, or wherever they may be. We invite everyone to join us through one of our three ticket options,” said David Young, SOURCES CEO.

Since the pandemic, SOURCES has seen a 400 per cent increase in calls for counselling supports. Money raised at Run for the Roses Redux will fund SOURCES’ Mental Health and Social Wellness services, with a specific focus on supporting the mental wellness of youth, families and seniors through the DiscoverY, Counselling and Trauma Counselling programs. The effects of suffering from isolation, anxiety, depression, and discrimination can linger for a long time unless properly addressed. Funding these programs is more important than ever.

Run for the Roses Redux is generously supported by co-presenting sponsors Save-On-Foods and Scotiabank; diamond sponsors Comfort Keepers and Hazelmere Golf and Tennis Club; platinum sponsor DMCL Chartered Professional Accounts; and other gold, silver, bronze and media sponsors.
