Firefly lantern fundraiser for food bank started by former volunteer

When Bob Jadis left his hometown in Nova Scotia as a youth, his father said to him, “Son, if nothing else, I want you to remember to always put back more into the community than you take out.” Those parting words etched themselves onto Bob’s heart. He went on to contribute countless volunteer hours at various organizations and even formed a charitable jazz band, “Souper Jazz,” that plays to this day in support of the soup kitchen in Ottawa. Ocean Park Food Drive helps White Rock/South Surrey Food Bank

The tradition continues! Back in 1991, local realtor Lesley Hames started the Annual Ocean Park Food Drive after learning that our White Rock/South Surrey Food Bank had been broken into. That year, the Peace Arch News reported that the drive collected $100 and 40 cartons of food.

This year, and now with her co-worker Wendy Fulford, the drive raised $3,400 and over 1,600 lbs. of food for our local Food Bank! Thank you so very much! Read More…
