With over 70 offices across Canada, MNP is a large firm – but they have very close connections with their local communities. Giving back to the places where they live and do business is part of their corporate culture, and in South Surrey/White Rock, they do this by supporting community-based charities like the Sources Foundation.
The relationship between MNP and SOURCES is long standing. MNP (KNV prior to the merger with MNP in 2015) has been a steadfast supporter and sponsor of the SOURCES Annual Fundraising Gala since the event’s inception.
Dave Mitchell, Regional Managing Partner-Lower Mainland at MNP, has attended many of SOURCES’ Galas and recalls them fondly. The MNP team that attended SOURCES’ “Like A Rock” themed Gala in 2018 even won the costume contest!
“I think the SOURCES Gala is one of the most sought after tickets in the community. There is a great atmosphere, the community involvement is excellent and it’s nice to see all of your friends and colleagues in attendance. Every year, it’s good fun.”
For SOURCES’ 24th Annual “Enchanted” Gala, MNP stepped up to the Gold level – doubling their sponsorship dollars to $5,000.
“The sponsors recognition event is truly special. It gets you thinking about where you place your discretionary dollars. When you look around the room and see the individuals and companies that are there with you, you realize the importance they place on the work that SOURCES does in the community, and makes you want to join in and support their efforts,” Mitchell said.
Moving up to the Gold sponsorship level was an easy decision – “We didn’t sit around the table and do it corporately, it was about really being in the room that night and deciding, let’s put our money into the local community that we work in and that our clients work in, knowing that it will be invested in the best possible way to benefit our community.”
MNP IN SURREY
While MNP does have national charitable initiatives that they do as a firm, their local offices have a great deal of autonomy to support causes that are important to their employees. In their Surrey office, their “Pay It Forward” committee meets regularly to talk about what’s going on in the community and if there are any initiatives they want to consider getting behind and contributing to.
“This committee makes sure we take the time to think about what’s happening around us and whether or not we can somehow get involved and have a positive influence,” Mitchell said. “In the Lower Mainland region, we reach out to our employees and ask what is important to them and that changes over time. Sometimes we raise funds, sometimes we match funds and sometimes we donate our time to volunteer.”
MNP’s Surrey office has over 5,000 team members and serves all the surrounding communities of Langley, White Rock, Surrey, Delta, Cloverdale, Guildford and Newton (as well as many other locations in the Greater Vancouver Region). All these are communities that SOURCES serves as well.
Indeed, Mitchell attributes MNP’s longtime support of SOURCES to an alignment of core values.
FUN FACT
Speaking of alignment…
MNP has had a presence in South Surrey/White Rock for 40 years.
They were KNV back then, before their merger.
SOURCES has also been around for 40 years.
They were Peace Arch Community Services back then, before their mergers!
“What SOURCES does is connect with the community, assisting those that really need the help. We have a diverse employee group and ownership group at MNP, and SOURCES has a diversity of programs and services that speak to us in different ways. That’s one of the things we love about SOURCES. It’s a great way to give as it ticks the boxes for lots of different people.”
Thank you so much to MNP for your generosity and support – you help promote social wellness in our community.
