The Sources Foundation’s Annual Fundraising Gala has been around for 24 years, and for over 15 of those, Hazelmere Golf and Tennis Club (Hazelmere) has been the venue of choice. For our Enchanted-themed Gala in April 2019, Hazelmere stepped up as a Platinum Plus Sponsor.
“We’re so proud of our relationship with SOURCES,” said Frank Fourchalk, General Manager at Hazelmere.
“There are so many organizations out there doing wonderful things in this community, but SOURCES has such a wide reach and variety of programs and services; that’s why we gravitate towards them. In terms of stepping up this year, it’s just a natural evolution of our relationship, to come up to this next level.”
Hazelmere Golf and Tennis Club has been part of the South Surrey/White Rock community since 1962. Many of their employees have been there for years. Fourchalk, who first joined Hazelmere over 20 years ago as a server, said there is a “family-like environment within the company.”
“We have long-term employees that are really committed to Hazelmere and what we do, and also committed to this community. Our support of SOURCES is one of our main focuses, but a number of other community organizations hold their events here too. We help to sponsor by providing space, supporting requests for donations, whatever we can do. We get requests from all sorts of charities since golf is very popular in auctions, and we do our best to fulfill the requests we get.”

The big hearts at Hazelmere haven’t gone unnoticed. In 2019, the South Surrey & White Rock Chamber of Commerce presented them the “Community Builder Business of the Year” Award at the 20th Annual Business Excellence Awards.
Also, Hazelmere is a popular venue for weddings, corporate gatherings, golf tournaments, and other functions. They recently completed a renovation of their banquet and dining room, which guests of the SOURCES Gala will get to enjoy.
Over the years, Fourchalk has witnessed how the SOURCES Gala has grown; from an event that fundraised $50,000, to today’s sold-out affair that inspires guests, donors, and sponsors—like Hazelmere—to contribute over $390,000.
“It has become this wonderful, large and very polished event. It has been especially interesting and satisfying to be looking at it from behind the scenes and seeing how it’s put together every year. We see a lot of events and the SOURCES Gala is truly something special – definitely one of the premiere events that is held at Hazelmere.”
