Bryan Sommer, a South Surrey investment advisor and board member/treasurer of Sources Community Resources Society, has used the official launch of his new book to support a youth-literacy initiative in the community.
Sommer – who works for CIBC Wood Gundy – released The Reveal: Stepping Across the Line into Retirement which aims to help his clients as they ease out of the working world.
Rather than sell the book, Sommer was giving it away to those interested during his Nov. 23, 2016 release event, and for every book he handed out, he pledged to donate one book to the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, a youth literacy initiative that, locally, is administered by Sources.
About 60 people attended the book launch, and Sommer said he’ll now donate more than 400 books to the program.
“It was a way of saying thank you to our clients, friends and family for all their support… it was a lot of fun,” Sommer said of the event.
