Funds Raised from Sources Foundation’s Charity Gala Exceeds Expectations

SURREY, BC – November 8, 2022 – This past weekend, Sources Foundation surpassed its fundraising goal of $300,000, raising an astonishing $420,000+ at their charity gala Frozen – A Winter Wonderland, co-presented by Scotiabank & Save-On-Foods.

The Foundation called out to the community for support to address the under-resourced women’s programs operated by Sources Community Resource Centres (SOURCES). Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the sharp rise in crisis calls by women resulted in additional counselling hours, an expansion of resource centres, and more counsellors to meet demand. SOURCES has reached its maximum capacity and requires help beyond its current resources.

Set out with a goal of raising $300,000, the team was optimistic but uncertain on how the community would respond to its first fully in-person gala event since the COVID-19 pandemic. The reception turned out to be overwhelming as the non-profit organization received steadfast support from the community, allowing the organization to reach its fundraising goal by 140%.

The charity gala took place on November 5 at Hazelmere Golf & Tennis Club. Over 230 guests attended the sold-out event. Hosted by Virgin Radio 94.5’s Nira Arora, the evening was packed with live entertainment, actors and acrobats, photobooths, and even an ice bar complete with an ice sculpture luge that served the night’s signature drink The Icy Blue. Fundraising activities included a silent and live auction, a 50/50 raffle draw and donation matching for pledges.
