Women’s Place programs benefit from community support

Many of the programs at Sources Women’s Place rely on support from the community. Over the holidays, we received numerous donations from individuals, businesses and clubs around our community. Below, our belated thank-yous…

Aunnika Short

Southridge student Aunnika Short (grade 11) was inspired to support Sources Women’s Place ever since her mother began volunteering there over a year ago. According to her school’s website (here), Aunnika prepared a proposal to have a week dedicated to collecting items on our wishlist. She collected boxes filled with canned goods, granola bars, coats, boots and more. Thank you, Aunnika!

Curves South Surrey

Over the past three years, Curves members – with the direction of owner Dean Eickmeier – have provided monetary support for our Hot Lunch Program and donated items for our Clothing Exchange. Their creative fundraising initiatives have enabled us to serve over 6,500 free lunches to women and children and made it possible for over 4,000 women and children to receive free clothing last year. This is a major contribution from a small business of dedicated women in South Surrey – thank you!

Southridge School & Victory Memorial Park

The local private school and funeral centre held a fundraiser for Sources Women’s Place and collected food items for our Hot Lunch Program as well as outerwear (coats, hats, boots and more) for our Clothing Exchange to be given out to clients in need between Christmas and New Year’s. Thank you!

Ricky’s Country Restaurant – King George – South Surrey

Since 2010, this establishment has been collecting toys for children of Sources Women’s Place clients, as part of their Angel Project. We give each child a new toy at our annual Christmas Lunch. Extra toys were donated to support children in other Sources programs. Thank you!

Ladies On The Go Travel Club

Sharleen Dickson and her travelling ladies have raised $350 and assorted gift items for clients in need at Sources Women’s Place since 2012. Thank you!
