The Great Canadian Giving Challenge Ends, but the Giving Continues

On July 1, 2017, people across the country celebrated Canada’s 150th birthday. This day also marked the end of the Great Canadian Giving Challenge, and with that, the announcing of the Challenge’s winner. The nationwide contest gave registered Canadian charities the chance to win a $10,000 donation – one of those charities being SOURCES, and more specifically, our Volunteer Wheels Program.

Thank you so much to our supporters for donating to our Volunteer Wheels program in June.

Volunteer Wheels received an incredible amount of support but it was the Central Alberta Humane Society’s (CAHS) name that was pulled in the final draw. Located in our neighbouring province, CAHS dedicates itself “to the re-homing of unwanted, abandoned and stray companion animals,” and is “committed to helping animals and the community, and inspiring change through education” (source). As another organization that promotes and exercises community wellness, we extend our congratulations to CAHS, and wish them success in all the work they do!

Despite Volunteer Wheels not winning the $10,000 donation, the donations you made throughout the month of June will go a long way. Because of your generosity, White Rock/South Surrey seniors have access to affordable and accessible transportation to their medical appointments anywhere in the Lower Mainland.

We congratulate all of the charities who participated in the Great Canadian Giving Challenge. Let us work together towards a stronger, united and more resilient community. Here on the West Coast, SOURCES will continue to promote social wellness in our community.
