Operating since 1978, Sources Women’s Place is a unique drop-in day program for self-identifying women and their children. It provides free supports and services in a safe, confidential and non-judgmental way.
In recent years, Sources Women’s Place has witnessed a concerning trend. An increasing number of women accessing services are struggling through difficult situations at home, living in their cars or even the streets. Many are now relying on our hot lunch program as their primary meal of the day. Simultaneously, demand has grown for our emergency aid kits that provide food, hygiene products, clothing, and seasonal weather supplies.
Last year:
- We received ~4,000+ drop-ins at our centre
- We received ~200 new clients
- ~3,600+ meals were served (over 50% increase from last year)
- Over 40 referrals were made to our Trauma Counselling services
- 80+ women shopped in our free clothing store each month
- Over 70 emergency aid kits were distributed
Funds raised from In Her Shoes will enable us to better respond to the complex and evolving needs of our women as they face personal crises and life challenges.
