During the holiday season, many in our community who are looking for ways to give back think of their local food bank. We thank all of you for your generosity during this time and throughout the year.
Many food banks, including Sources Food Banks, do not receive government funding and rely 100% on community support. Donations of food and cash go a long way to help us feed the hundreds of individuals and families who rely on us each week.
Why give cash?
Monetary donations allow us the flexibility to purchase the most in-demand and culturally-appropriate food items for our specific demographic of clients, and lets us buy as much as we can store.
Plus, our partnerships with local food distributors gives us a TRIPLE BUYING POWER! This means that we can stretch the value of your donation 3x to buy the food we need, when we want it, in bulk and at a better price.
Donate NowWhen choosing food donations, please consider healthy choices. Some items on our wish list are:
- Canned Protein (tuna, salmon, chicken, chili, etc.)
- Rice
- Rolled Oats/Oatmeal
- Pastas (spaghetti preferred)
- Legumes (lentils, beans, etc.)
- Fresh Fruit and Vegetables (locally grown is best!)
- Canned Fruit and Vegetables
- 100% Fruit Juice Boxes
- Powdered Milk
- Coffee
Our Food Banks also accept donations of Size 5 and 6 diapers for families with young children.
Just for the holidays, we’d love to give our clients treats such as boxes of cookies or chocolates, and hot chocolate, to make this time of year more special.
Food donations are accepted on-site at both the Sources White Rock/South Surrey Food Bank (Mon-Fri, 8:30am-4:30pm) and Sources Langley Food Bank (Mon-Thu, 8:30am-4:00pm; Fri, 9am-12pm). Many local grocery stores also have bins where you can drop off your donations.
If you have any questions, or would like to organize a fundraising/food drive for SOURCES, please contact us at foodbank@sourcesbc.ca.
Thank you for giving!
Sources Food Banks are accredited and recognized by Food Banks BC and Food Banks Canada, and we do NOT solicit donations door-to-door.
