SOURCES’ annual gala fundraiser goes virtual for first time in its history

For the first time in its 40-year history, the Sources Foundation’s annual gala fundraising event – Run for the Roses – will be delivered virtually and, for the first time ever, the general public can support it through an online silent auction as well as an online 50/50 raffle draw.

“This event has always been a very important one for us…it is one of our main fundraising efforts,” says David Young, CEO of SOURCES.  “Normally, it would have already happened back in April but, with COVID-19, we moved it to November, then made it much smaller and, now, given advice from the Provincial Health Officer, we have turned it into a virtual event.”

Up until a week ago, the gala had been planned as an intimate dinner experience with entertainment while also observing all COVID-19 protocols including mask usage when not eating and social distancing.  However, given the rising number of infections, the decision was made to turn the event into a virtual one for the safety of all involved.

“With the new virtual format, guests will still receive a three-course meal created by Hazelmere Golf and Tennis Club’s executive chef Andrew Wynnyk which will be delivered to them by a SOURCES team member,” explains Young.  “Also included in each package will be a charcuterie appetizer, courtesy of our presenting sponsor, Save-On-Foods, complimentary wine, a gift bag of favours donated by our generous sponsors and a special, limited edition Run for the Roses face mask.”

Although the November 07, 2020, virtual dinner event is fully-booked, the general public is encouraged to participate in the online silent auction and 50/50 raffle draw in support of SOURCES’ Comfort and Care During COVID-19 response fund.  Both online events open on Friday October 30th, at 9:00 a.m. and run until Monday November 9th, at noon.

SOURCES is very grateful for the ongoing support from our community, donors, sponsors and media partners.
